New Databases!

We at the AOPLD are happy to announce that our patrons now have access to two new databases! All you need to access them at home is your AOPLD barcode number (on the back of your library card)! For those who aren’t lucky enough to be our patrons, you can also use them on-site at either of our library branches.

The first is called “A to Z World Travel.” It’s great if you’re planning a trip, especially one to another country, and would like information about the area. It covers 202 cities around the world. The US cities it covers are Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Honolulu, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. Not only does it include maps and lists of accommodations, but it also has information about food, climate, neighborhoods, night life, transportation options, relevant laws, up-to-date safety concerns, and much more! The second is called “A to Z World Culture.” It’s a great resource for learning about the cultures and societies of countries around the world. It has information on nearly 200 countries! It contains detailed maps of each country, plus tons of information about everything from a country’s overarching political system all the way down to its local sports interests. For homeschoolers, it even provides study guides and guided activities for each country. Click here to check out A to Z World Culture!
