What’s Happening Now?

Most of the construction work is complete now, but there is still a lot to do! Once they finish, we must move all the furniture, computers, books, and DVDs back into the building and get them organized on the shelves. We are also taking the opportunity to do a full inventory of our collection. We will work as quick as we can, but it is a large process. Right now, we hope to open in early March, but the exact date may change as we begin the process of re-assembling the library.

This means that the building is currently closed to the public, including the dropbox(!) and the Wi-Fi(!!). We are fortunate enough to be a two-branch library, which means we can still have items and services available while one branch is closed; so make sure to come and visit us at the Oreana Public Library! During the renovation we have extended our hours to:

Monday-Thursday — 9:00AM-7:00PM
Friday — 9:00AM-5:00PM
Saturday — 9:00AM-1:00PM

What’s Already Happened?

On Monday, December 12, 2016, 4 MC Corporation began the renovation process! The contract for the renovation was for 12 weeks, not including the time it took the existing staff to pack and unpack all the materials. Since then, the bathrooms have been upgraded, the floor has been leveled and the carpet replaced, the lights have been switched to LED, the walls have been painted, and some of the shelving has been rearranged. Throughout the process, other flaws of the building have been repaired and improved as well. It will look very different when it opens!
