Zinio FAQs

Do I need to return the magazines I downloaded? Do they have a due date?

No, you don’t need to return the magazines, and they don’t have a due date. They are yours to keep for as long as you like!

What is the limit on checkouts?

There’s no limit on checkouts. Enjoy as many as you like!

I’m done with an issue. How do I get rid of it?

Be sure you’re logged into your Zinio reading list. If you’re logged into the library’s Zinio site, click on Go to My Checked-Out Magazines. Then click Edit My Reading List. Click on the magazine you want to delete.

I downloaded a magazine onto my device, but why can’t I read it?

Be sure you have downloaded the Zinio reading app for your device. You can either search your app store or click on one of the links above in the Zinio reading apps section.

Why do I need two accounts to use Zinio?

The first account is your Zinio Library account. This allows you check out magazines for free from the library and is tied to your library card number. The second account is your Zinio.com Reading account and allows you to download the magazines you’ve checked out. You can use the same login and password for both.

I created an account, but now Zinio wants to charge me to download a magazine. What do I do?

Be sure you’re checking out the magazine from the library’s Zinio site (it’ll say Illinois Heartland Library System at the top of the page). If you’re not on that page, switch to the tab that says “Return to Library Collection” in your browser. You should never have to pay for a magazine to which the library subscribes. Zinio is also a business that sells magazine subscriptions to people who don’t have a library card.

I don’t see the magazine I want. What can I do?

Let us know! We welcome feedback from our patrons. Call or stop by either library branch, and we will put in a purchase request. Zinio may not offer your requested magazine, but we can let them know we have patrons interested in certain titles.
